The pool

Posted in Kiddos, Poetry, Thought on July 16, 2007 by silentdreams

The water swelled with rain born independence
Lapping casually about your feet
You glanced quickly at those in attendance
Failing to recognize the dangers of the deep
At first you thought you were soaring free
When gravity overwhelms all rationality
But joy shakes off quickly underneath the chlorine sea
As you considered for the first time your own mortality
As you realized I am nowhere near
Too far away to drown your fear

Slumber

Fluttering eyelids
Slumber drowns like heavy water
My baby grows

Sweet Dreams

Posted in Kiddos, Poetry on June 17, 2007 by silentdreams

Hush child
The soft glow of the moon is strong tonight
The darkness will be as though daylight
The nightlight is on and the bulb is bright
It will give you eyes through all of the night
Don’t fear child
God has heard your prayers tonight
Teddy’s safe and tucked in tight
Sweet dreams will come and make it alright
Like summers and snowflakes and flying your kite
Close your eyes little one
Keep hold of my love
God will protect us
From heaven above

Drunk Love

Posted in Kiddos, Love, Poetry on May 26, 2007 by silentdreams

Your soul is so intoxicating
I stumble around dazed and confused
Thankful for every moment
I have been blessed to share with you.

Failing You

Posted in Kiddos, Poetry, tortured on April 20, 2007 by silentdreams

I question your purity at times
I wonder how you can speak such lies
Regret the temptations that plague your soul
Think of you as not really whole
A stranger in this house you seem
On your own not part of our team
You always tend to lack the sympathy
Refusing to recognize empathy

It seems that I have made you this way
Added too much responsibility
The words the doctor said
Hit the nail on the head
It is my fault you hurt a girl today
I guess you didn’t know another way
And gently the tears run down
Falling from my face without a sound.

Baby Mine

Posted in Kiddos, Love, Poetry on April 17, 2007 by silentdreams

There is this spot on your face
That crinkles up just so
Every time I take a bite
From that first little toe
To watch your innocence over run
Like a sea of endless hope
You are to be the blessed one
To save us from ourselves
Your smile brings simplicity
A break from my hectic day
And in you I find the ability
To make the world fall away
Simple beautiful child
Your soul is like a dove
Your faith is still unbridled
Full of hope and trust and love

Happy Birthday Baby Boy

Posted in Kiddos, Love, Poetry, Thought on March 25, 2007 by silentdreams

Satuarated sweetness
Lost inside my child’s eyes
Unspoken joy kept inside
The smiling comfort of one so small
And a soft and sympathetic tear
Runs straight from me to you
And I feel blessed and without regret
As you eat your sweet reward

Nonsense

Posted in Kiddos, Love, Poetry, Thought on February 27, 2007 by silentdreams

Your beautiful eyes looked into my soul
And saw my torment and strife
You held me tight on this rainy day
You promised to take my hurt away
I caressed your soft locks of golden hair
And I asked you to understand
That’s it is not fair
To place the burden of the world
In the hands of such a little man

And you smiled at me in your gentle way
And you promised it would be okay
Mommy I will protect you against all that you fear
I am the Hulk as strong as a tree
Danger can’t hurt you without passing through me

And I hugged you deeper in spite of myself
And a smile parted my tears
And even though I thought you would mind
You let me cry on your shoulder this time

I love you Isaiah

Babby baby

Lost inside your deep blue eyes
I see the silent moonlight rise
And I hold your hand so small and sweet
Warm loving tears begin to seep
I wish that she could see you now
Grown so big and tall somehow
I lie to myself every time I try to say
That I love you all the same each day
But you are different from the rest
I held you tight upon my breast
And that you can never outgrow
The way I love you and that I know
Sleep tight baby bunting
Sleep tight

Sickday

Posted in Kiddos, Poetry on January 26, 2007 by silentdreams

The fever rages deep in him
Eating him from the inside out
“Mommy I’m cold”
And he shivers inspite of himself
So helpless and pained he lives inside this shell
Closed off from world we know
And I wonder what he sees behind those forgiving eyes
A victim of a discouraging world
Who only wants to save us all
Through his faith in humanity
But first he must make it through nap time
