Thunder and Lightning
The angry heavens opened wide
Their screams like demons left to roam
And lightning streaked across the sky
Finding earth its final home
You stood quaking in the shadow of God
Shivering in the rain
Fearful of the power you saw
Praying it would wane
And I stood there a shoulder for you
To lift you from the flood
But it seemed my help was overdue
Your shoes were stuck in the mud
And this time I could not free you
From the raging of the storm
I failed to protect you
Now the water around us swarms
